During the 16th century, herbs were the only available remedies available for fighting off different superstitions, sicknesses, and also used in mystical properties such as astrology, magic, and storytelling. Medicine and cooking in forms of different essential oils and spices are still used to this day. Dating back further than we know we have found evidence of herbs being used to contact gods and upon alters as a form of worship. It is believed that flowers were originally placed on graves as a plead to the god of death to bring back the life lost, and since has lost it’s meaning. While many people have stopped worshipping gods of different kinds and keeping alters in their home, their have been some practices overtime that are still used. The most common of the practices are of spreading salt to ward of evil spirits, to using crystals to manifest.
